Private Gurrod, of Oxford Unirer--1 sity, won the silver medal in the second /stage of the King's prize, with a score of 93. Trainor, a Canadian, scored 192. and Varish, an Australian, 187. The New Zealanders, Hay with 186, RooU 184, Marenzi and Loveday 182, Cox 180. Col. Darcy 179, qualified for the final stage. In the King's Prize McKnight scored 181. Seventeen with scores of 179 shot of! for the last four places in the final stage, when Darcy and Chaytor were successful. Hay gets a second prize.
THE KING'S PRIZE. WON BY A CANADIAN. Received 24, 1.10 a.m. London, July 23. Private Clifford, a Canadian cabinetmaker, aged 32, won the King's prize with a score of 319. Grant, of South Africa, was second with 315, and Sergt. Ommundsen third with 313. Parish, of Australia, was fifteenth with a score of 302. He won £lO. Hay made 302 and won £lO. The successful New Zealanders were: Marenzi 297, Ca/pt MacKnight 297, Cox 295, Loveday 289, and Roots 280, each winning £5. Hay filled ninth place in the St. George's Challenge Vase and won £lO. Lord Kitchener distributed t!he prizes.
