CRUELTY TO ANIMALS.
To the Editor. Sir,—Was our worthy deputy-Mayor correctly re]>orted in your issue of Thursday? Ife said something to the effect that the encouragement of the children's section by parents would do away with the need for the societies for the prevention of cruelty to animals. If he was correctly reported, was he in oarnest, or was ho having his little joke? To pen up two pretty little toy terriers in a box about twelve inches by eight inches for a day or two, or to mete out the same treatment to a fine big pussy, appears to me to be the finesse of cruelty. Would any true lover of animals do it?—l am, etc., QUIZ.
