CABLE FROM SIR J. G. WARD, BART. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, La«t Night. A cablegram from the Prime Minister has been received by Sir James Carroll, which makes tflxe position clear regarding the re-appointment of Sir William Hall-Jones as Higfli Commissioner. It reads: "You can give an absolute contradiction to the rumour regarding my taking the position of Higfli Commissioner; also the suggestion regaxdijij; Sir Robert Stout and Sir J. Findlav. There is no such intention. The position i<? that the High Commissioner has tit; appointment extended to the end of August and has not tendered his resignation to me. The whole matter i.s sending over for consideration by (.V:>inet until mv return."
