THE SEAMAN'S STRIKE.
RIOTING RENEWED AT CARDIFF. By Cable,—Press Association.—Copyright. London, July 19. Five thousand dockers at Cardiff have struck in support of the seamen's demand for recognition of the union. The rioting lias been renewed. Many London police were unhorsed, and several horses were stabbed. The military at Newport are being held in readiness. 50,000 MAY GO OUT. Received 20, 9,20 p.m. London, July 20. Mr. Havelock Wilson, of Cardiff, deplored the riots and urged the men to behave. He contended that the only way to bring the Shipping Federation to its senses -was the absolute stoppage of work in the Bristol Channel and on the North-East Coast. He added that unless the conference was summoned this week, fifty thousand men in London would strike on Monday. Transport workers and dockers at Newport struck in sympathy with the Cardiff coal trimmers, declining to work aboard vessels where the seamen were paid below the recognised rata of wages.
