HOW THE ARREST WAS MADE. Auckland, July 1". A sensational triple arrest took placo early this afternoon. Just as James Edward O'Shaughnessy and his wife. Martha Jane O'Shaughnessy, together with the latter's daughter, Mrs. Jane Burns Hartley, were about to sit down to lunch in the kitchen of their house at KingsJamd, a force of detectives, under Oliief Detective Marsack, arrived and arrested all three on warrants charging them 'with the murder of Elsde Alexander Holland, on or about June 13 last. The accused persons were evidently taken completely by surprise, and submitted to their apprehension with the best grace possible. On the arrival of the party at the Kingsland terminus the chief dtetective and four of his men proceeded into First Avenue, where the residence of the parties lies, immediately i«. the rear of their shop. Two men were sent round to the back door, Mr. Marsack and two others going to, tile front door. It was soon made clear that the inmates were totally unprepared ifor the surprise that awaited them. In response to the officer's knock O'Shaughnessy opened the door, and all tforee were quietly arrested. Pending the arrival of cabs the onty one of the three accused to exhibit signs of unwonted excitement was Mrs. Hartley, who waxed somewhat sarcastic at the expense of her captors. She kept this attitude up all the way to the police station, but the others were silent.
