Professor David says that there is little doubt that Amundsen will not use Shackleton's route to the Pole, but will strike out for an entirely new route. Regarding Dr. Mawson's criticism of Captain Scott sending a party to Cape Adare, Professor David think? there is no ground for adverse criticism. In view of the season being so late the party had no time to erect its own hut in a new area, but was compelled to go where a hut had already been erected, which was only the case in some such place as Cape Adare. Dr. Mawson's expedition would be enhanced rather than otherwise by the Cape Adare party making preliminary observations. The Consul for Xonvay, in a letter to the Press, states that Captain Amundsen, before storting on the expedition, advised Captain Scott of his intentions. Lieutenant Gran, a member of Captain Scott's party, told the Consul this when the party was in Sydney.
