ANNUAL CONVENTION. I SATURDAY'S SESSION. The meeting opened with devotional exorcises at 9.:i0 a.m. I Continuing the report on Maori work, ' Sister Nellie gave an interesting account of this work, and pointed out liow Maori women were being supplied with liquor in spite of the law to the contrary. Then, again, it was deplorable the amount of harm that was caused through the cigarette habit. It was desirable that Maori babies should be registered. The treasurer's report was considered satisfactory and was adopted. The editor of ''White ltibbon" (Mrq. Oldham) was re-appointed to carry on the work of that excellent organ, and it was decided to enlarge the paper by four pages. Subscribers are still being added, but every member is urged to take this excellent paper. The business manager (Miss Harrison) reported 2G73 subscribers to the "White Ribbon." Receipts amounted to £20.1 lis Cd, and the expenditure to £124 Ss Id, thus showing a credit balance of £77 3s lid. A very kind invitation was received by the convention from Mr. Tisch (Mayor) offering to provide conveyances to take members to Moturoa and inspect the oil wells. Needless to say, the invitation was accepted with much pleasure. Greetings were received from Dunedin South, and also from the New Zealand Alliance. Cradle Roll and L.T.L. report also . showed excellent progress. . Dr. Triibv King, at this stage, was in- _ troduced, and gave an excellent address ; on domestic science training, the mem- . hers showing keen interest in his re-1 , marks.
