WILLIAM MERVYN JONES.
To the Editor. Sir,—Had Mr. William Mervyn Jones sent his advance courier to Taranaki while he was inspecting the good breeding and manners of the inhabitants of the South Island, we might have had His Worship the Mayor, Borough Councillors, Volunteers and Band to welcome him upon his arrival in New Plymouth. He could not then have complained of Taranaki people being unsociable and inhospitable. As to Taranaki people not being in the habit of attending places of worship, I bog to say they do so a 5 much as o'lirrs do in New Zealand. Sorry I have not been able to travel on i'\e -ontinents. Neither can I converse in seven tongues. Oh, Mr. William Mervyn Jones, We like your little tale. It puts us very much in mind Of Jonah and the whale. If your yarn could be swallowed As Jonah by the whale, The much more, Mr. Mervyn Jones, We'd like your - little "tail." I am, etc., PAKIRTKIRI.
