An alleged welsher named Victor McDuff, alias Robert Walter Watson, was recently arrested at Trenthani racecourse on four charges of alleged theft from persons who had invested wi|h him. One charge was withdrawn by the police and another dismissed because of insufficient evidence. On the other two charges a sentence of one month's imprisonment was imposed. Security for appeal was fixed. Counsel said accused was a man of considerable means.
