KILLED WITH HIS HORSE,

George Gerke, a single man about 60 years of age, was' killed on Thursday on the Main South Westland Koad, below Cook's river, through the horso he
was riding bolting and going over a steep siding. Both rider and horse were killed. Deceased was highly respected, and had been a resident of South U 7 estland for many years. DEATH OF A DOCTOR. Auckland, February 19. A telegram from Ohura reports that Dr. Rowland, resident medico, was found dead last night with the top of his head blown off. A gun containing a discharged cartridge lay across the body.
