Akerman, owner of a menagerie at Devall's Landing, Louisiana, was murdered while feeding au ape, "which afterwards flew into a terrible rage whenever it saw Starr, an employee of the menagerie, and his wife. The Starrs were afterwards sentenced to life imprisonment. Lt is understood that the ape's rage iu court influenced the jury more than the circumstantial evidence.
