Dr. Blackley reported to the Hospital Board yesterday morning that Mr. A. *'. r'arrar, manager of the Old People's Home, w as so completely knocked up that leave of absence for three months should he given. He was there, he said, quite unknown to Mr. Farrur, nnil against his wish, but, knowing that the illness had been brought on by overexertion and over-anxiety in the performance of his duties, he felt that hj» the Board of the fact. Dr. Blackley said that for some month* past the manager bad had. some exceptionally trying work to do, nursing old men in their dying illnesses for week* nt u time, this entailing very often continuous night and day duty.' The Board, he said, would have vory great difficulty, in finding a mini strong enough auil willing to stand such work. Mr. Burgess remarked that Mr. Farrar was one of those men, unfortunately rare nowadays, who would not shirk duty. The Board unanimously granted tho necessary feave. Mr. R. F.
