HOCKEY.
WELLINGTON v. TARANAKI. The Wellington representative team which is to play Taranaki to-day at the Recreation Sports Ground arrived by last night's express from Wangamii. The visitors were met at the station by officials of the local association and I afterwards welcomed bv the president (Mr. F. P. Corkill) al the New Plymouth Club rooms. On Saturday they meet Auckland in a challenge match for the Now Zealand Shield, so that move, than ordinary interest is therefore attached to to-day's match. The stand's on both sides of the ground will lie available to the public without charge. T. P. AndeT.son will replace Fagan 'in the Taranaki forward line, the. latter being unable to play owing to the injury received to his leg. The dry ground should tend to make the play fast and interesting. The following are the teams:—
WELLINGTON. (Colors: Amber and Black.) Goalkeeper—Sanders. Full-backs—C. llickson and L. Brewer. Halves Rcid, Campbell, and E. Christie. Forwards—G. Smythe (captain), H. Thompson, Dixon, L. Elliott, and Willis. TARANAKI. (Colors: Blue and White.), Forwards—John Harris, W. P. Nicoll, E. Sargent, T. P. Anderson, and James Harris. Halves—A. Thomson, E. Harris, and H. Curtis. Full-backs—E. Avery and B. B. Anderson. Goalkeeper— G. E. Anderson. Mr. Fred. Robertson will control the game, which is timed to sonunencc at 2.30 p.m.
