TARANAKI v. NAPIER HIGH SCHOOLS.

(Special to News.) Patea, Last Night. iaranaki High Schools defeated Napier High School by 23 to 8. In the first spell, with the'wind in their favor, Taranaki had all the best vf the game, Brown, Morrison, and Southcombe scor ing tries, all of which were converted by Thompson. In the second spell Napier did better, but neither side could be Said to have held any great advantage over the other. Brown scored another try for Taranaki, which was not converted. Them Napier's persistence was rewarded, and in a short space of time, from passing rushes Knight and Extell crossed the line, Thompson eon"verting one try. Then Taranaki came with a rush, and Brown almost added another try. In the last minute Morrison, after a fine run, scored his second try, Thompson converting. Napier had slightly the best of the forward play, but the Taranaki backs were superior in attack. For Taranaki, Brown, Morrison, Nicholls, and P. Gilligan in the backs, and Murphy and Cameron in the forwards, were best.
