SUTTON'S DEVON EAVER RYE, IT IS PERENNIAL AND JT WILL NOT RUN OUT. There is nothing new about Sutton's Devon Eaver—it Is over 100 years old. As Rye-grass id the principal grass iu all pastures for sheep or cattle, it is very important that the greatest caution and care be exercised in securing seed which will prove perenniall and will not run out. Experience in England lius proved that seed saved by Sutton's, from their 'old pastures in Devonshire, gives not only a grass which will last for all time, but one which has easily a greater feeding value than all others, Exactly the same applies to this colony. The noted pastures in Poverty Hay and Hawke's Bay were all laid down in this seed more than fifty years ago, and are as good to-day as they ever were; ' in fact, each yearthey improve. Also, there is no doubt whatever that the finest stands of Eye in Taranaki are those very old pastures which were sown down with this old Devonshire seed in the curly days by the Missionaries, It has held better than all the seeds sown and gathered in the colony. Although the best Colonial Rye, even from Mission Stations, may die out in time, the Devon Eavcr, brough here by the missionaries some fifty years ago, though sown in many dill'erent localities, remains in the ground today; this applies also to the same -eed brought out by Devonshire families nearly forty years ago. Indeed, although Taranaki Soil is very reluctant to accept Colonial and the ordinary imported Bye seed, it has shown a remarkable liking for Suttou's Devon Eaver. This is such a well-known fact amongst the more observant 'faranaki farmers that we are pressed on all sides to get supplies from Sutton's of this seed. We i ive sold out our first two shipments, and the third, comprising 20 fttnks, has just arrived per Corinthic. A large quantity of this has been boohed for all parts of Taranaki by our shrewdest farmers who realise that a good sowing is as important as a good burn. The Rye all comes out in sealed tanks, thus preserving its vitality. P.S.—Don't confuso Sutton's Devon on Eaver Rye Grass, Seed with other seed sold as imported English Perennial Rye—there is a's great a difference as between sunshine and darkness.
