CAN ADIAX COM .MISSION EE'S ADDRESS. Per Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Mr. J. S. .Utrke, Canadian Commissioner for Australasia, addressed the Wellington Chamber of Commerce tonight in support of improved trade relations between Canada and New Zealand. He said Canada was growing so fast that it was said in fifty yeavs there would be a population of fifty millions. Trade between this country and Canada was expanding, bast yejr New Zealand sent Ji7I),OUD worth of goods to Canada, and Canada sent us £206,001) worth; but this was not what the trade ought to be. There was a market for New Zealand iu Canada in live sheep, frozen meat, flax, skins, hides, etc. Mr. Lark e spoke of the need for improved steam services. What was wanted was a direct line of steamships from the St. Lawrence to New Zealand and Australia. A resolution was .passed supporting the views put forward by Mr. Larke.
