NEW PLYMOUTH FIRE BOARD
INAUGURAL MEETING. The inaugural meeting of the Xc.v Plymouth Fire Hoard was held last evening. There wore present —His Worship the Mayor (Mr. E. Dockrill), Messrs. W. A. Colli*, .1. \V. Boon (Borough Council representatives), E. 11.I 1 . Webster and J. Paton (insurance companies representatives), C. E. Bellringer (Government representative). Mr. E. Dockrill was appointed chairman.
Providing that there is .no legal hindrance, Mr. C. E. Bellringer was appointed secretary at a salary of £25. The meeting favored allowing the brigade to continue as a volunteer brigade, it being considered that the brigade members would prefer this course. It was decided that the services of the brigade be continued a.s a volunteer brigade until such time as (he Board can meet the brigade and consider the matter in definite form.
Mr. Fred. Jiellringer (captain of Hie brigade) was appointed supetintendeii l :. and Mr. Moon (lieutenant) deputy-super, intendent. The services of caretakers of the brigade are to be retained pro tern, on the present conditions. It was resolved that an account bo opened with the National Bauk of New Zaaland.
■Mr. Arthur Cliff was appointed valuer to the Board, at a fee of three guineas, to value land, buildings, and plant. It was decided that a seal be procured for the Board. The Board decided to request the i'.urnugh Council to advance a sum of money not exceeding £SO for contingent expenses. H was decided to lake into consideration the formation of a lire ]xjliee and -alv.ige rorp-. Tin- Fire Brigade is to V requested to depute its executive to confer with the Hoard at its next meeting. The next meeting was fixed for 15th April.
