Samuel for a week on account i>[ illness. The infant Life Protection Bill was read a first time. The Waitnra Harbor Bill was committed. The Council resumed at 7.30 p.m. The Wnilara. Harbor Bill was read a third time and passed. Several Bills passed by the House during the afternoon were received and read a first-time. I The second reading of the Divinity I Degrees Bill was defeated by IS to 7.' The Ilutt Railway and Eoad Improve-1 meat and Post Office Savings Bank fund Investment Bills were put through all | stages and passed, and the Council adjourned at 11.30 o'clock. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES In the House, the following Bills were introduced and read a first time:—Purangi Landless Natives, Beer Duty Act Amendment, Kangitatau Block Exchange, Butter Export, Taieri Land Drainage, and Defence Act Amendment.

Leave of absence for the remainder of the session was granted to Mr Alison on account of illness.

The following Bills were rend a third time and passed:—Bills of Exchange Act Amendment, Agricultural Implement Manufacture Importation and Sale, Police Offences, Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Acts Amendment, Taumarunui Town Council Election Validation, Scaffolding Inspection Act Amendment, Coal Mines Act Amendment. The House adjourned at 5.30 p.m. In the House in the evening the Sea Fisheries Bill was read.

The Christchurch District Drainage Amendment Bill was read a second time.
