NEWTON KING'S WEEKLY REPORT. At the Haymarket on Saturday there was an improved demand for pigs, clips malting 8s to 16s, small stores llta to 235, porkers 325. At the mart fowls made Is (id to 2a Id, ducks Is -Id to 2s. Sundries made usual rates. Fruit sold as follows during the week: —Mandarins 5s fid to 6s. do. bad order is 6d to 4s, Auckland oranges 4s to ss, apples 7s to Os, lemons Is tid to 4s, bananas (green) Bs. Cattle.—On Friday, 19th, at Tariki, I held a clearing sale on account of ilr N'lvju, who is leaving Taranaki. There was a very large attendance, buyers being attracted by the number of grade Jensoya combined with the reputed excellence of Mr Nixon's cows. Bidding was very keen, the first cow from the homestead herd, a nice Jersey bred by Mr W. D. Webster, of New Plymouth, topping the price for the day at £23 10s. Other grade Jerseys made from £ll to £lB, the average for the homestead herd of 22 cows being over £l2. The herd from the Rugby road farjn was a good lot, but with less Jerseys, and consequently did not realise such high figures, which ranged from £5 to £!). A yearling Jersey bull made £ls 10s, j springing heifers £7 as to £7 10s. Sundries and furniture sold well.

On Monday at Upper Palmer road Mr Robt. Williams' clearing sale was well attended, and everything gold at satisfactory prices. tows dose to profit made £6 10s to £9 ss, late ealvers and aged cows £2 15a to £5 ss, store do. £1 to £1 10s, bull £3, trap mare £2O, do. £8 10s, hack £4 10a. Sundries made satisfactory prices. At Waiwakaiho on Tuesday there was a good attendance, with improved demand for young stock, all of which sold at ruling rates. Mr A. Nelson's dairy cows were a nice lot, and met with fair competition. Weavers made 9s, year-j lings 18s to £1 6s 6d, heifers £1 8s 6d to £3 3s 6d, store cows £1 10s to £2 2s 6d, cows in calf £2 16s to £3 12s 6d, springers £4 to £5 10s, steers £3 14s. At Tikorangi on Tuesday I held a clearing sale on account of Mr W. E. Loveridge, when there were a good attendance and bidding. The pigs were an exceptionally good lot, but prices were rather on the low side. The cows were a nice lot, mostly young, and were well competed'for. Karly ealvers made £8 5* to £7, late ealvers £3 5s to £5 10s, aged and store do. £1 15s to £2 15s, bull £4, sows £2 to £3 7s fid, boars 18s to 30s, slips 10s to 15s, draught horses £2O to £23. Sundries made good prices. Afßahotu on Thursday there was a fair yarding and attendance, and nearly everything sold at the hammer. Calves made 13s 0d to £f, 12 to 18 months £1 7s to £1 IBs, 2-year steers £2 9s, store cows £1 to £2 15s. fat cows £4 15s.

The sale of Mrs Hy. Gray's household furniture on Friday was largely attended. and bidding was very spirited from start to finish, excellent prices being realised for nearly every line.

WILSON* AXD NOI..VN"* REPORT. Poultry: Owing to the wet day, not many birds were penned. Those sold realised good prices. Froit—Local fruit is in short supply. A big shipment of Island fruit arrives to-day. Hides —We had a good sale nn Wedinesday, and cleared a big catalogue. Clearing sales—On Wednesday we sold a large quantity of furniture and sundries on account of Mrs Kennington. As we were not able to clear everything, the balance will lie sold on Saturday at the mart. On Thur-duy we had a clearing sale on account of Mr .1. Tipping, Frankley road. Buyers were numeroos. and all lots offered were quitted at good prices. On August Sth, we hold a clearing sale at Tikorangi, on account of Mr T. Morgan.
