During the course of the Poultry Society's supper last night, the chairman pre>euted Mr X. Higgie with a handsome clock given to the owner of the best bird exhibited by an Association delegate. The presentation was hardly over when one of the assembly started "Grandfather's Clock," the company laughingly joining in. A representative meeting of civil servants was held on Wednesday evening when a branch of the New Zealmd Civil Service Association was formed o the same lines as in other parts of th Dominion. The matter was taken up enthusiastically, and a large membership is assured. At the Poultry Society's supper last night sencral special prizes were donated for the 1908 show. Mr N. Iliggie promised a guinea for the pigeon classes, and a guinea to encourage children as exhibitors: Mr S. Olliver promised two | half-guinea prizes to be allocated at the discretion of the Society; and Mr E. E. Fromont, of Hawera, gave half-a-guinea to lw allocated to any breed that ihe touimlttee thought fit.
