For the I month of May. l'.KXi, the company received 518.132 gallons of milk from its [supplier*, and for the tjame month of this year only .'ltrf.lXO gallons were received; showing the heavy shortage of lnt.fwi gallons for one month. This practically paralyses the company's export trade, the whole of its output being required for the l'lenl market.
In the ivurse of some observations on a mysterious epidemic among bees in the Isle of Wight, which recently formed the subject of investigation, the Hoard of Agriculture states that the disease seems to have first broken out in the summer of lflOt, to have spread wry rapidly in IM6. and at the present time to be prevalent over almost the whole island. The death of the bees seems to be brought alwut finally by blood poisoning. The demand for nitrogenous food «ems to be one of the most marked charactriftics of the disease, but why the demand should arise is a question which it is not at present possible fo answer.
