SCHOOL COMMISSIONERS.

The School Commissioners met on Friday. Present: .Messrs J. Wade, H. Fault, and i\ Simpson. The Chairman reported that the committee had considered the offer of the

Western Park Board to supply a quantity of earth, hut could not recommend its acceptance, as the land on which it was proposed to dump it was already leased.

A letter was received from the Borough Council asking whether tee Commissioners would consider a proposal for tho exchange of Keserve K, owned by the Boird, for sec. 7!>2, New Plymouth, and sec. 4, Town Belt—tho o'ld hospital site—owned by tho Council, and oll'ering to accept a valuation to t»:> made by Mr F. P. Corkill on behalf of both parties as a basis for negotiations. Consideration was postponed until there was a full meeting of the Board,

The Board's solicitor reported the completion of the purchase of sec. 28; i to 2S(i, town of Normnnbv, at the price of ,t!80, in terms of the Board's resolution of December last.

The solicitor reported that tile .arliitrator, Mr i l '. P. Corki'l, had made his award with respect to the renewal of Mr J. N. Gamlm's lease of sections sti2. etc., town of New Plymouth. Mr Camlin had notilied his acceptance of sam ■. The Taranaki Education Board wrotthat the sonool site at Pukearuiie was unsuitable for school purposes, and requested the Commissioners to purchase sections iu a more convenient position, jit tile same time suggesting that the present school site might be transferred to the Commissioners if the law permits.—Referred to the Board's solicitor for advice.

The Chairman reported that upon receipt of a lurther Jotter from the District lto.id Engineer, with tracing attached, he had given preliminary consent to the deviation of the Ahoroa road through sec. t, block viii., Opaku survey district.—His action was confirmed.
