NEW PLYMOUTH HARBOUR BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the X.*\v Plymouth Harbour Board was held on Friday. Present, Messrs J. ft. Con nett (Chairman), Xewton King. ,1. Thompson, G. -McLean. J*. Price, d. Ward, K. W. Hornby. ,), Hine, jr. aid F. .Maxwell. Captain Houd stated that for the last live weeks the dredge worked 22 days, making 245 trips, and reinev ing 14.7(H) culde yards of saud from the bank between the breakwater and 'he wharf. A letter was receive*! from the County Council asking the Board to ivniove tin- lupins and trim the trees <m Uie Breakwater road between the Hotel and XimiiioLu road.—The work will be put in hand at once. The Government will be sell or loan to the Board four ironbark piles required by the foreman to complete the whole of the repairs to the wharf. Un the recommendation of the work-, committer, it was decided to purcliax' a second hand screwing machine from .Messr* Ukey and Koilo, at a eo.?t of CI 2. The action of the committee in arranging to pay Cl()(l per annuli fur .electric lighting at tne Brcakwaur was coniirmed. , In connection with the cargo shed ! to be erected on the wharf for cargo to be transhipped, wmic discti-dou took place as to the rate per ton (hat would be charged for landing c.'rgo. It was thought tiie charge would be about niiiepeiice per ton, providing the Department had the handling of all the cargo.
