AMENDMENTS IN THE COMMONS. .London, November 30. The Workmen's Compensation Bill was amended in the Commons at Mp Gladstone s instance. An employee is now not liable unless the injury' disab.es the workman for at least a* week, whi-e injuries causing death 05 serious and permanent disablement excluded from the cases where claims are debarred when an accident is.duq to the workman's serious and vvilfuf misconduct.' Mr Gladstone agreed that 'when an injury disables a work* man for a fortnight he should be en-, titled to compensation from the datq the accident occurred.
Mr Austin Chamberlain said ha feared the proposal would encourage malingering. The Labour party, approving oj the amendment, it was carried. .
