FOOTBALL.
In the match (Association game) against Waitara on Thursday, on the Recreation Ground, the following have Veen. selected to play for New Plymouth Goal, L. Frost ; backs, W. Bullock, S. Clark ; halves, Read, Kay, Coates ; forwards, 'A. Ambury, Newton, R. Ambury, Hartley, Glynes ; emergencies, Saunders, J. Ambury. Referee, Mr Riddles. Mr R. Cock, the Mayor, will preside at' the dinner at 6.30 at the Taranaki Hotel.
At the last meeting of the Taranaki Association Football Union there was a good attendance of delegates from Inglewood, New Plymouth and Waitara. Mr R. Cock was elected President, Mr Clark Chairman, and Mr L. Frost Secretary. The following resolutions were carried That an affiliation fee. of 5s be paid for the present season by each competing club ; to play under the rules of the N.Z.A. Union, (and to affiliate with the parent Union next season ; that the headquarters be fixed for New Plymouth ; that each club shall have two delegates ; that Messrs Schofield, Clark and Bowen act as a selection committee for the representative matches for the present season ; that owing to the rep. matches coming on and the lateness of the season, Waitara be declared winners of the Julian trophy.
A match between the Bank and Law Clerks v. Commercials has been arranged for Aug. 17. The North v. South Taranaki trial match will take place at Eltham tomorrow.
