Hood Williams, acting as raivng conference judges, today gave their deci.sion n the ni>peul case in connection with the Bray Memorial Stakes, won by Stepaside at the recent Waikouaiti meeting. The condftions of the 'raco were that it was open to horses that had not- won a race ol" the ad'vertised value of 25 sows. Earlier th» same day Stepaside had won the Maiden l'lato. of 25 soys, with 5 sovs deducted for second hors<e. Alter winning the Bray Memorial Stakes Stepaside was protested against as not being eligible. The stewards dismissed t-hfc protest, hut eta appeal tp the IHmedin Jockey Chib their deoision was reversed, and the race awarded to the second Ihorsc. Against this decbi'on Mr O. 111. Wise, owner of Stepaside, ap|>ealed fp the Hacing Conference which decided the case toi-day, delivering the fclilowing judgment -.—The judges find that ; thc advertised va,'ue of the Maiden Plate to the winner was 20 sovs, and that Stepaside was qualified to run lor the Bray Memorial Stakes. They 'therefore up. hold the appeai of Mi- Wise, and direct that the aimiimt due to the winner of the Bray Memorial Stakes be paid to him.
