The Sydney Morning llerakl, in a trade review, SU ys the past veor has not been so gookl for the banker or merchant as for the man on the land, but the "prospects are brighter, and we may wish the citv well mid the country n belter year than the past one," The Daily Telegraph suvs that prices for Australian produce advanced substantially during the second half of tho year, and general conditions are such as point to progress and a fair amount of pros)>erity. Yet, it says, business and enterprise have dragged, and speculation in commercial circles has been conspicuously absent, and n lack of enterprise was apparent in almost every direction, the i'elegrnph adds that "business people ascribe this to too much politics, too much socialism, and too many labour dillicuKies and uncertainties. Enterprise and capital arc scared."
