A meeting of working men at Birmingham beartily supports 1 Mr Chamberlain's polioy of preferential trade, which they chimed is intended to bring about a closer union of the Motherland with all parts of the Empire. A be'ief was expressed that these great advantages could be obtained without unduly interfering with foreign commerce, or increasing the total coat of food. PR&ISE OF MR OH4MBERLAIN. Lord Tennysoo, speaking at the Agricultural Show and referring to preferential trade, dec'ared he would not gay whether Mr Chamberlain was right or wrong in his campaign, but he had read with great distress the defamatory pres9 attacks on Mr Chamberhin. From personal experience he knew'Mr Chambeilain was high above all politic »1 low scheming, and imbued with a great statesman's love for the Empire, and od the support and defence of the great principles which he sought to advocate he would staka his very all.
