WEST END SCHOOL.
CONCERT IN ST. MARTS HALL. Thb West End School was exceedingly unfortunate in the weather on Thurs day.evening, it being about as !~ad at it wss possible to be. Notwiths'anding this there was a very fair audience in St. Mary's Hall and with one or two exceptions the vocalists all turned u) and an excellent programme was sub nutted which was greatly enjoyed by all those present, many of the iteme being heartily encored. T&o items given by the children were, ps on th> previous ccca*iin, marked with a precision, sweetness, and correctness which spoke volumes for the careful train ing and the time and attention devoted to the pupi.'s by their teachers, Mrs Do wling and Miss Mynott, The chair occupied by Mr Gilbert, chai: man of the committee, who introduced the business of the ev-i> ing in a few wellchosen word*, and at the close Mr Hurle, secretary of the committee, in a few admirable remarks moved votes of thanks to those who bad assisted with vocal and musical items. In the course of his remarks Mr Hurle eulogised Mrs Daw ling's services in training the children and took occasion to thank those who had braved the elements to assist the school in defraying the cost of the organ lately purchased for the school. The following was tho programme : —Pianoforte eolo, Miss Simmons ; " The Merry Sailors," School Boys; "Don's Fly Away b'rJe," School Children: song, Miss Geoigu; "My Kitty," School Children; song, Mr Nelson ; " The Elf and the Dormouse," School Children; vocal duet. Misses Baker; " The Railway Train," School Children ; song, Miss Bakc-r ; pianoforte duet, Misses Dowling; sony, Mr Hume; soeg, Miss FurloDg; " Tfoe Oat in the School" School Olildren ; song, Mr Hurle; chorus, " Sleepy." School Children; "Gjd Save the King."
