ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

W* PRE® ASSOCIATION. Cbbistcbdroh, April 15. Albert D. Austin, who has been missing sines Saturday, was found ehot through the head in Haglev Park, with a revolver beside bitn. Deceased was far many years in the Public Service, and has suffered from insomnia. The evidence, as to the couplings! of the train being taut or loose, at the icquest on Walter Hobson was rather contradictory. The jury found that deceased had been killed by an accident on the Lyttelton—Ohristchurch tnin, ' and they- csosidered there was some negligence shown in allowing 12 or 13 mere children to remain on the plat- . form. They also considered gome blame rested with one of the three guards, bat were unable to determine which. Also that the evidence showed that the Opawa stationmwter took the cbildreas tickets and should have seen thsm •sated, Auckland, April 15. A labourer named Benjimin Todd committed suicide this afsernoon by cutting his thoat from ear to ear. He suffered severely from rheumatism and was very despondent.

A man named George Coiper was seriously injured in the Mokau coal mine on Siturday. He was working in a nairow drive when a fall occurred, crashing him badly. His mates extricated bins, and medical aid was sent for. Dr. Beanec reached the spot on Monday afternoOD,"and found severe injuries had baen inflicted on ihe spine and foot. He ordered the man'd removal to the hospital.

A man at work some 11 milrs beyond Whangamomona was crashed by a Ml of earth on Monday. He was brought into Stratford, and after having bis injuries attended by Dr. Sceit, was brought into New Plymouth hospital on faesday morning
