MR. J. D. STOYLE'S BENEFIT.

Mr. J. D. Stoyle, who is to receive a complimentary benefit in tbe Theatre on Thursday evening, may not be known to all theatre-goers of New Plymouth as an actor, but judging from his ability as an instructor and coach in comic opera, comedy, or drama he should ba an actor of no mean power, as well es a man of many parts. Hiving been associated with the very best companies that have toured Australasia, he has played comedy parts in most of the comic operas thai have been produced in the colony, and with qui"® a number of companies he has htd control cf the stage. There is no doubt about his comedy, a* his perforance of " Gobo " in Lss Clochfß will testify, but to jump from low comedy to the heavy dramatic part of " Gaepard " seems rather a large order. He should, however, be quite equal to the task and we anticipate a first-rate representation of the " old miser." It is evident the club are proud of their tutor, and could not have taken better meats to express their feelings than by the benefit tendered to him, There is no doubt this is fully apprecia'ed by Mr Stoyle.
