GUARDS CLUB.
On Thursday evening there was a fair muster at the Guards Club, when the following programme was gone through in a very creditable manner, most of the items being encored:—Overture, Mr. Garry's Orchestra; song, Private Cock (Sons of the Sea); graphophone selections, Private Reynolds; song, Private Black (Winds that Blow); recitation, Sergt. Messenger; selection, Mr. Garry's orchestra ; song, Corporal Nixon (Soldier and a Man); recitation, Private Bennett; song, Private Rudd (Let Me Love). During the evening Captain Taunton, on behalf of Mr, Sam Hill, presented the Club with a very finely mounted and ijjuned copy of " Soldiers of the Queen." The handsome gift was received with three hearty cheers for, the donor, Mr. Hill, and Private Black was called on to sing the well-known song bearing the same name as the | picture. The National Anthem brought a very pleasant evening to a close,
