MOTHER IN SCOTLAND Telephone Talk London, April 20. Over a distance of 12,000 miles, Mrs David R. Melville, in the quiet of her home in Perthshire, Scotland., was introduced to her son’s fiancee in New Zealand—by long-distance telephone. Mr Douglas Melville, a sheep farmer, whom she had not seen for 12 years, had rung up his .mother .'to tell her of his wedding. “His bride—Marion Hannerton is her name—spoke very clearly,” Mrs Melville said. ‘‘She is a New Zealand ‘home girl’ and her voice sounded charming as she said, ‘How’s mother?’ ”
