PERSONAL.
Messrs A. Urquhart, J. Aitken and J. J. McAloon, members of the Railway Regrading Commission, are at present visiting Stratford. The death occurred at Wanganui yesterday morning of Mr I. J. Rowell, district railways engineer at Wanganui. Mr P. Martin-Smith, M.A., LL.B., Tutor-organiser for the W.E.A., Victoria University College, was a visitor to Stratford to-day in connection with future activities of local study groups. Mr T. Kirkwood, of Stratford, secured first prize and Diploma in the art section (photographic) of the Waikato Winter Show exhibits. The entry was a beautiful seascape of Haughton’s Bay, near Island Bay, Welling' on. Mr P. B. Winn, manager for New Zealand for the past three years of the Norwich Union Fire Insurance Society, Limited, has been appointed manager of the society’s London Office. The death occurred in Hamilton last evening of Mr Archibald Strang, accountant at the money order savings branch of the Chief Post Office. Mr Strang joined the Department at Invercargill in 1902. In recent years he was examiner in Dunedin and accountant at Masterton and New Plymouth.
