“BIRDS OF PASSAGE.”
Men Placed by State Service. Masterton, March 16. The statement that there was an impression abroad that men placed by the State Placement Service were birds of passage was made by the acting-chairman, Mr. J. H. Bremner, at the meeting of the Wairarapa Provincial Executive of the New Zealand Farmers* Union to-day. If something could be done to get the men to stick to their jobs, the farmers would view the Government’s 4D scheme more confidently, he said. The chairman’s remarks were made after the Masterton State Placement Officer, Mr. J. G. Hanaghan, had addressed the meeting on the new 4D scheme, which provided a learning period for youths of four months.
