"A PAIR OF SILK STOCKINGS./'
Constance Talmadge goes from one sparkling success to another. Her latest release, "A Pair of Silk Stockings," ivhich will be shown at the Empire Theati'e to-night for t"he' last time, is a gem of comedy drama. The plot of this famous stage comedy is quite well known, and its vivacity and smartness lose nothing in the film version. It all starts with a newly-wed couple's quarrel about the make of their new car. Then the husband (.cleverly played by Harrison Ford) tries to make his bride jealous by taking a questionable creature out to dine and buying her furs. Things then commence to happen in a hurry. Eventually, after their divorce, the couple drift together at a country house party, and situations arise in quick succession. As the scenes are laid in the smart set of English society, the dresses and general investiture are gorgeous, elaborate and up to the minute. There are several good supporting pictures in the programme.
