GENERAL BIRDWOOD.
ENTERTAINED AT SYDNEY

There was a brilliant and enthusiastic assemblage at the Town 'Hall at the State. dinner tendered to Sir William Bird wood.
The speakers eulogised General Birdwood's leadership, helping to make the great name that the Australian Army won! General Birdwood, in his reply, paid a tribute to the splendid officers and men who served under him, to whom' the honour belonged, and not to him. ' Ho folt like a man riding a bicycle. He sat stilly and the .machine did the rest. Later, in the Domain, General Birdwood presented a large number of Avar decorations.
