At the investigation of Navy affairs arising out of Admiral Sims's charges, Admiral Rodman said he had come to defend the good name of the Navy, which viewed Admiral Sims's attack as deserving, of the deepest censure. Admiral Sims occuoied a subordinate position in London "as a liason officer, and possibly arrogated to his office more importance than actually was the case. Admiral Rodman charged Admiral Sims with a. breach of confidence in disclosing confidential admonitions. Answering Admiral Sims's charges that half a million lives were sacrificed because of j the Navy Department's delay, Admiral Rodman "characterised them as "damned lies." He declared the statement was ridiculous, and said that nobody was responsible for the loss of life there was.
