The "Matin" says that advices from Frankfort state "that some German forces while retiring fired machine guns on French cavalry. It is believed that the incident was due to some individuals becoming excited. The commander of the French in Frankfort., addressing the notables of the city, said he hoped it would, not be necessary to use guns or machine guns. He counted on their influence tor the maintenance of peace, and in securing respect for his orders.
