(Received Feb. 22, 0.0 p.m.) Sydney, Feb. 22. A fire destroyed the Tost Office at Cargo. After removing . their eight children safely, the parents were burned to death. MeSbourns, Feb. 22. A fire damaged tlellings's boot factory at Abbotsi'ord to the extent of £20,000. Kobart, Feb. 22. One of tiie most disastrous fires eyer ivitnessed here destroyed Risby's timber mills. Other buildings in the block were damaged.

Palmerston North, Feb. 22. A fire broke out at midnight on Satur- • day in the wool department of Longburn FreeziDg Works.. The ftanies spread rapidly ancl the buildings housing the wool '■ and the fellmongery plants were completely gutted. A concrete wall saved i the remainder of the works. A portion of the-burned building had been erected only a few months ago.' Fortunately ! there was not much wool or skins in 1 stove. The building and contents were i insured in London and Livei*pool offices for £3000; but the building was much under-insured, and there will be a loss of about £4000. Another outbreak occurred a week before. The caiise of both 'ires is unknown.
