MR J.J. COURT'S CANDIDATURE.

The folly of perpetuating sectional or party distinctions and supporting personal political ambitions at the present juncture in Dominion politics has been iccognised bj' Mr Downie Stowart, one of the ablest "men in the last Parliament, i and hifchei'to classed as a Reformer, who has now come out as an Independent. Mr Stewart holds the present light be-' tween Liberals and Reformers to be; ridiculous; he wants to soo a Government which shall include all tho be-st brains in the new Parliament. Wairau is to be congratulated on having an opportunity of securing the ser-' vices of & thorough business man in the person of Mr J. J. Corry, who is stand- j ing as an independent Progressive. His energy, dharacter^ind prescience will carry'him far in New Zealand politics, because he has the breadth of vision and keen penetration that make the world's best statesmen. He would bo an acquisition in the legislature of New Zealand, where there is ample room for men ' of business ability and for men who have the courage of their opinions. Mr Corry might bo termed "a real live wire,"" and one has only to look around the Maryborough district and see tho advancement that has been made. during Ins long term of office. No one has a better right to complete confidence . in his genuineness than that to which I Mr Corry is entitled by virtue of his' (mo record as Mayor of Blenheim, dur-, ing the war period, as president of the Marlborough Patriotic Association, as chairman of the Repatriation Commit- | tee, and chairman of the Wairau Hospital Board, and his sterling leadership of patriotic and repatriation activities generally. He has always been a real' and sincere worker m tho interests of the soldier and ins humanitarian policy is well known. A man is known by his works. Mr Corry possesses good sound views on all vital matters alfecting the welfare of the i/ominion, and it is hoped tho electors will make use of the power at their disposal in doing all they can to secure Jus return in the present campaign, lie is a strong man and one of courage; he will not pander to any class or creed, but will do much for tne uplifting ami advancement of the whole country in this troublous period. This is the best test of his sterling character. It is clearly the duty of the electors in each district to select the best man ottering, irrespective of tihe party to which he may nominally belong, and, speaking generally, to favour men of independent" views more particularly if they oo business it en of sound common sense and proved administrative ability, rather than be led away by pompous declarations of unswerving allegiance to this, that, or the other party.*
