Mr. S. Tyson^inspector of Factories, lias returned from a tour of inspection of the shearing sheds in the Marlborough district In the course of convex*. sation with a "Colonist 5' reporter yestcruay, Mr. Tyson said that the woo 2 clip this season in Marlborough would bo good,' although the lam o ing had been poor, averaging about 35 per cent. Owing to the dry season last year the ewes had been weak, but ivrv few: wore lost. The crops were looking x®a mark-ably well, although rain was badly needed. In regard to rabbits, these were very numerous and poisoning and trapping was going on extensively. Trappers were making from £10 to £12 per week, owing to the high price of skins. The rabbits had! increased owing to the shortage during the war of young able-bodied men, bui) now that they were.returning the difficulty of securing labour to exterminate "bunny" would be got over. Deeffl were also increasing in considerable numbers, especially on Rainbow and Molesworth stations, and were eating off the feed in the high country. Unless the Government allowed them to be shot off, there would bo no feed left for the sheep.
