MR. PIRANI DECLINES TO STAND DOWN.
Wellington,. Nov.. 26. A meeting of b«Miiess men asked Mr M. Carr, chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, to conies* the Wellington Central seat, as it vras thought Mr. F. Pirani had not n neod enough chance against Mr. P. F**»cr, M.!*., the Labour candidate. Mr. Carr said he would accede to the request if Mr. Pirani would stand down. Mr. Pirani stated subsequently, for publication, that Jio would not stand down for anybody. Later.
Mr. Pirnni states that he was not approached by any deputation with a request to stand down, and that all Mr. Carr's reasons for not standing were purely business ones.
