A remarkable shooting fatality ooeurred at Grafton. A farmer named Long and his wife, who had been driving in the vicinity of the river, were found shot to death. Inquiries disclosed that Captain Drew, of the steamer Tintenbar, was using a nfle for shooting shags, and it is assumed that a bullet, after travelling 1000 ■yards. pierced Long's neck and was i deflected through his wife s heart. Drew was arrested on a charge of causing the deaths.
