,—<*. •. [Per United Pkess Association.] Ghnstchurch, Oct. 6. Norman'Mac-Donald Richmond, this year's Rhodes scholar, was born on October 23rd, 1897. He is a son of the late Mr M. W. Richmond, Professor of English and New Zealand Law at Victoria College, Wellington, till 1911, and latterly, until his death early this year, a barrister in Christchurch. Mr N. M. Richmond was educated at tlie Terrace School, Wellington, and subsequently at Wellington and Nelson Colleges. He won a Junior Education Board Scholarship in 1908, and a Junior University Scholarship m 1914, being fourth on the list of successful "jandidatcs. He won the Canterbury College prizes in mathematics in 1915, 1916, and 1917. winning the Senior University Scholarship in apnljod mathematics in "917.
