Mr Alf Lulham, who for the past five years has been the popular Host of the Commercial Hotel, will, accompanied by Mrs Lulham and family, leave for Wellington this evening, it being his intention to take a few. months' holiday before re-entering business. The various speakers emphasised the fact that Mr. Lulham had proved himself a good citizen and had conducted his business in such a manner that there was no hotel in the Dominion with a better name than the Commercial. The health of Mr and Mrs Lulham was drunk,-and Mr Lulham sincerely thanked those who had honoured him by their presence and their good wishes for himself and family. At a later hour a number of the stock buyers and salesmen of the commercial houses waited upon Mr Lulham, and expressed to him their appreciation of the many kindnesses they had received at his hands. The spokesman alluded to the fact that the Commercial was a favourite house with the farming community, and necessarily those present had been brought frequently in touch with Mr Lulham, who was complimented upon the excellent manner in which he had conducted his house.
