j Nurses Nock (Nelson) and Parker (Motueka), who returned to New Zealand by the Briton, arrived in Nelson on Saturday morning by the Mapourika. Private P. A. Edmonds (son of the Town Clerk), who left with the ThirtyI fifth Reinforcements, returned home fit and well on Saturday morning. Mr Edmonds, who went over to meet his son also returned on Saturday. At the Education Board's office on Saturday morning, Mr A. Crawford, who leaves to-day for AVanganui, was the recipient of a leather despatch case from the Senior Inspector and the board staff. The presentation was made by Mr G. A. Harkness, Senior Inspector. The Mayor (Mr W. W. Snodgrass) left on Saturday by the Kaitoa on a brief business trip to Christchurch. At the age of 90 years there died in i Auckland last week Mrs. Marianne; Charlotte Maclean, widow of Captain Henry Travers Maclean, of the 27th Bombay Native Infantry. Mrs. Maclean arrived in New Zealand with her son, the late Mr. Henry Maclean, i about 35 years ago. He was for some years secretary to the Auckland Law I Society and librarian at the Siiuivine ''■ Court. I Mr. I A. James, manager of the State Coal Alines, has been promoted to the position of general ; manager of the State Coal Mines of New Zealand.
