THE GEORGESON CONTRACT,
(Received July 25, 11.5 p.m.) Sydney, July 25. At the Wheat Commission another wheat expert and member of the Ad-
. visory Council of the Australian Wheat ."; Board gave evidence that previous o !;■;■ the Georgeson contract all sales of - wheat for the East were confirmed by the Advisory Board, but the latter was ;'.; not officially advised of the Georgeson I contract. Witness considered that the Minister of Agriculture had no pow >r to make contracts for- selling:wheat overseas under the constitution of the : Wheat Board. He thought .it most in- ■ comprehensible how any person with a knowledge of the wheat trade could draw up such a loose document The price ought to have averaged 5s 3d a , bushel. The New Zealand and Swedish Governments did not refuse to take ■ the 1916-17 wheat, but those Governments bought from certain States In ?m7^? c? land' - tho bought from Victoria.
