™ Ti j ri - • LondonV July 24. Mr-Lloyd George conferred with the miners at Downing Street. They discussed the adjustment of piece rates. Mr Smillie submitted the miners' case. After a prolonged discussion, Mr: Lloyd George submitted the following formula:—Accepting the Sankey report that the reduction of output will be less than 10 per cent, the Government are prepared to see that pieceworkers do nofr suffer any loss in any earnings. Piece rates will, therefore be increased to the amount necessary to correspond with the 10 per cent, reduction m hours.
The Federation will meet this afternoon to consider the proposals All export of coal from Cardiff has been cancelled.
The majority of textile mills at Bradford are closing down on Saturday. In the House of Commons, Mr Bonar Law promised a statement of the Government's decision regarding nation ahsatiou of mines before the recess
