RICHMOND.
INSTALLATION OF MAYOR.
The installation of Mr. W. E. Wilkes as Mayor took place at the Council Chambers, Richmond, on' Wednesday. All the, borough councillors were preseuc. viz;: Messrs. J. A.-Haycock, F. Lusty jun., T. H. Holland, E. Win, E. \\] Cross, arid C. B. Webby. The Mayor and councillors •" made the eustomarj declaration. The Mayor stated he was proud to have the "confidence of so many of the ratepayers of the borough, who had returned him to the position of Mayor for a second term. .He welcomed those of the old Council who had been reelected,, and also the new councillors. He felt sure the interests of the burgesses would be well looked after by the representatives elected, and that they would work amicably together. After outlining the work of the pre-
vious term, the Mayor urged the councillors to express {their views on matters • brought forward" whether for or against, and expressed the hope that an honest and candid consideration •would be given to all subjects that required their attention. Or. Ha_yeo'..k' congratulated the Mayor on his second term of office, and trust-' ed that the Council would work well j together. . | Cr. Holland said that he was pleased to congratulate the Mayor on again filling the mayoral chair.' With the other councillors he would endeavour to further the interests of the ratepayers in all things that came before them. Crs. Lusty, Webby, and Win followed, and all congratulated the Mayor on being re-elected. The Mayor briefly thanked the coxincillore for 'their congratulatory remarks, and the meeting terminated.
